Mahabharat is an eight-ward rural municipality in southern Kavrepalanchok District, also known as Kavre. Its ward directory groups the eight wards under five area names: Gokule, Foksingtar, Budhakhani, Bankhu and Ghartichhap. Gokule, Budhakhani and Bankhu each appear in two current wards.
Finding the right ward
Gokule, Ward 1, has Gogane, Aarubot and Dharmathali references. Gokule, Ward 2, covers Bhusaldanda, Lama Tol and Simle references. Foksingtar, Ward 3, includes Dote, Chakmake and Yonjan Danda in its ward programme.
The two Budhakhani guides distinguish Ward 4, with Salme, Chepare and Mahadevtar references, from Ward 5, with Kafal Danda, Tuni Bas and Charghare.
Bankhu, Ward 6, has Devitar and Goltar references. Bankhu, Ward 7, includes Thokar Bhanjyang, Goth Khola and Jyoti Secondary School. Ghartichhap, Ward 8, has Chauri Bhanjyang, Mahadev Danda and Palte references. Use the map above to compare their boundaries.
The Mahabharat hills and surrounding area
The municipal introduction traces the name Mahabharat to Mhabar Lek on its northern side. Roshi Rural Municipality lies to the north and Khanikhola Rural Municipality to the west. The introduction identifies the Kokhajor Khola along its southern boundary and the Chau Khola along the western boundary.
The municipality’s 2083/84 policy gives coffee farming and agricultural tourism a place in its development plans, naming locations including Foksingtar and Aarubot. This is a policy priority, rather than a published schedule of farm visits. The ward guides use municipal records for local place references; a road or heritage project in a budget does not by itself confirm present access or visitor facilities.
