Godawari extends across southern Lalitpur, from the garden and Phulchoki side to Lele, Devi Chaur and Dukuchhap. Its fourteen wards bring together the former Godawari and Bajrabarahi municipalities, part of Karyabinayak and the former Devi Chaur village. The municipal centre is at Bajrabarahi, Chapagaun.
Gardens and religious sites
Start with Godawari and Kitini in Ward 3 for Taukhel and the garden-side neighbourhoods. The National Botanical Garden lists its grounds across Wards 2 and 3. Bishankhu Narayan, Ward 2, has the Narayan temple, Chapakharka and Kot Danda references.
The municipal heritage inventory includes Bajrabarahi, Swet Barahi, Tikabhairav and Santaneshwor Mahadev. Jharuwarasi, Ward 13, has the Santaneshwor approach; Thaiba, Ward 14, includes Swet Barahi and Bade Gaun references.
The major Godawari mela follows a twelve-year cycle. Thecho’s Navadurga Bhawani mela also has a twelve-year cycle in the municipal inventory. Neither should be presented as an annual festival or an announced date for a forthcoming visit.

Neighbourhood names can cross ward boundaries: Pyangaun and Tahakhel appear in both Ward 10 and Ward 11 records. Use the current ward number and a specific landmark when checking an address. For surrounding areas, continue to Lalitpur, Konjyosom or Bagmati.
