Panauti is a municipality in Kavrepalanchok District with a historic bazar at the meeting of the Roshi and Punyamata rivers. Its twelve wards also cover surrounding areas including Ryale, Kushadevi, Khopasi, Balthali and Bhumidanda.

- Historic town and riverside: Panauti Bazar in Ward 7 includes Indreshwor Temple. Dalinchok in Ward 6 has the municipal records for Brahmayani Ghat and Triveni Tamaghat.
- Around the town: explore Taukhal and Thadobato, Subbagaun, Kharibot and Sunthan.
- Village areas: Ryale and the two Kushadevi wards, Ward 2 and Ward 3, have separate boundaries and local references.
- Khopasi, Balthali and Bhumidanda: Ward 10, Ward 11 and Ward 12 distinguish these areas, including their named temples and village addresses.
Heritage at the river confluence
UNESCO’s Tentative List identifies Panauti’s early medieval architectural complex through Indreshwor Mahadev, Brahmayani, other temples, rest houses and traditional buildings. The proposal has been on Nepal’s Tentative List since 1996. It is not an inscribed World Heritage property, and the proposal does not designate every ward in the municipality as a separate heritage site.
Panauti’s 2083/84 policy gives attention to Triveni Ghat, Indreshwor, Bhaleshwor, Dhaneshwor, Mokshadham and Ladkeshwor, alongside traditions such as Jyapunhi and Devi Nach. Its proposals for new facilities are plans; check current arrangements before visiting.
