Nagarjun lies on the western side of Kathmandu, between the city’s neighbourhoods and the hills towards Dhading. Its ten wards bring together the former Ichangu Narayan, Sitapaila, Ramkot, Bhimdhunga and Syuchatar village areas. The municipal centre is at Harisiddhi, Sitapaila.
Forest approaches and temples
Start with Raniban in Ward 1 for neighbourhoods on the Nagarjun forest side and the Jamacho approach references. The wider national park extends beyond the ward map. For Ichangu Narayan Temple, Halchok’s Akash Bhairav, Tin Dhara and Dholange, choose Ward 3.
The municipality’s wider heritage list includes White Gumba, Badri Narayan Dham, Ganeshman Memorial Park, Switzerland Park and Hasantar Gumba. A specific destination and current ward number are more useful than assuming each belongs to the whole former village area.
Choose a neighbourhood
- Ward 2: Sano Bharyang and Thulo Bharyang, with Ananda Tol, Dev Nagar and local temples. Thulo Bharyang addresses also occur in Ward 3.
- Ward 4: Sitapaila, with Rani Pati, Sharanpur and Shubhakamana Tol.
- Ward 5: Sitapaila and Harisiddhi, with the municipal-centre area and Adeshwor temple references.
- Ward 6: Ramkot, with Ichadol, Uma Gaun and Kotadevi Temple.
- Ward 7: Gairigaun and Ramkot, with Charghare Tol, Tyaritar and addresses also using Syuchatar.
- Ward 8: Bhimdhunga, with Thaple, Majuwa and local shrines.
- Ward 9: Syuchatar, with Yagyeshwor Mahadev Tol and Shalik Chowk.
- Ward 10: Syuchatar and Indrayani Basti, with Tarakeshwor Temple and Ghyampe Kuwa.
The current ten-ward structure replaced an earlier fourteen-ward arrangement. Use the current ward number when comparing older addresses. For surrounding municipalities, continue to Tarakeshwor or Chandragiri.
