Chandragiri is a municipality in the southwestern part of Kathmandu district, famous for the Chandragiri Hill and its cable car service. The area has transformed significantly with the introduction of tourism infrastructure centered around the hilltop.

The Chandragiri Cable Car, opened in 2016, has made the hilltop accessible to many visitors, offering spectacular views of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan range including Mount Everest on clear days. The hilltop also features the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, an important religious site.

The municipality combines traditional hill communities with developing tourism facilities. Many residents are engaged in agriculture, cultivating terraced fields on the hillsides, while tourism-related businesses are growing in importance to the local economy.
