Sankhu Bazar and the Shalinadi pilgrimage area are among the places listed for Shankharapur Ward 7 in the municipal heritage inventory. Jyotirlingeshwor Temple is another named landmark in the ward.
The old town and Shalinadi
UNESCO’s Tentative List description records Sankhu’s historic role on the trade route to Tibet and its traditional streets, squares, temples and rest houses. The municipality also identifies the Shalinadi Mela and Madhav Narayan Swasthani observances among its cultural traditions. Dates follow the festival calendar and should be checked for the year of a visit.
The Sankhu–Vajrayogini site is on the Tentative List, rather than being an inscribed World Heritage property. The municipal inventory associates Sankhu’s heritage with both Ward 7 and Pukhulachhi in Ward 6.
