Chilancho Stupa stands at Singhaduwal Tole in Kirtipur Ward 10. The Buddhist complex is also known as Jagatpal Mahavihar or Chilancho Baha, names that can help when asking for it locally.
The stupa and surrounding toles
The municipal heritage guide describes a central stupa with four smaller stupas on a raised brick platform. The ward profile adds nearby place names including Itachhe, Chithu, Mangal, Matakhya and Amalsi, identified there with Naya Bazar. Bhariya Pukhu and Pal Pukhu are listed ponds.
The current ward brings together the former Chithu Bihar village area. Naya Bazar references also occur in other wards, so use Chilancho, Ward 10 when the stupa is your destination.
