*Gokarna**

Ward No. 4 of Gokarneshwor Municipality is primarily known as Gokarna, corresponding to the former Gokarneshwor VDC area and directly associated with the Gokarna neighborhood.[1][2][5]

Other neighborhoods or toles within this ward include Bensigaun (also spelled Besigaun) and Dese Basti.[2][4]

Gokarna is renowned for the historic Gokarna Mahadev Temple built in 1582 on the banks of the Bagmati River, where devotees bathe and make offerings during Gokarna Aunsi in late August or early September to honor fathers.[2] The area also features the nearby Gokarna Forest Reserve and is part of ongoing sewer network development serving wards 1, 2, and 4.[2][5] It lies in the eastern part of Kathmandu Valley, blending residential settlements with religious and natural landmarks.[1][2]
