*Sundarijal**

Ward No. 1 of Gokarneshwor Municipality is primarily known as Sundarijal, corresponding to the former Sundarijal VDC (Wards 1-9) and the eastern part of the former Nayapati VDC.[1] Other neighborhoods or toles within this ward include Makalbari.[5]

Sundarijal is a northern, semi-rural area in the Kathmandu Valley foothills, renowned for its scenic reservoirs, hydropower stations, and as a trekking gateway to Shivapuri National Park and the Bagmati River’s origin at Bagh Dwar. It features natural attractions like waterfalls and forests, with the former VDC structure indicating a focus on water resources and outdoor recreation rather than urban development.[1][2]
