*Gothatar**

Ward No. 9 of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality primarily corresponds to the Gothatar area, formed by merging former Village Development Committee wards 8 and 9 of Gothatar.[3][5][7] Other neighborhoods or toles within this ward include areas around Birendra Chowk and Lahure Chowk.[2]

Gothatar is known for its location along the Bagmati River with fertile soil supporting traditional farming and cowsheds (from which its name derives: “Goth” meaning cowshed and “Tar” meaning elevated land or slope).[3] Notable landmarks include the Krishna Parnami Mandir and the historical site of Manohara Durbar (a former Rana palace built in 1879, now gone); it offers views of Ganesh Himal and Phulchowki, connects to Jorpati via Bagmati bridge, and borders Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with good public transport like Gothatar Yatayat.[3] The area has seen rapid population growth and urbanization while retaining a mix of Hindu Brahmin/Chhetri residents and agricultural roots near Tribhuvan International Airport.[3][8]
