*Pottery Square (Tadhapa)**
Ward No. 4 of Bhaktapur Municipality is primarily known as the Pottery Square area, an internationally recognized hub for traditional Newari pottery-making, encompassing former wards like Ram Mandir and Bolachhen (also spelled Bolachen).[1][3] Other neighborhoods or toles within this ward include Gahiti, Mangalachen, Kwantale, Chapal, Bulucha, Nasamana, Kalhacha, and Laiko Palungal.[1]
This ward is renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage, featuring major sites like Pottery Square, Ikhalachi Math, Ram Temple, Mangal Tirtha, Barahi Peeth, Taleju Temple (Banlapuli/Brahmapur), Bhairav Temple, Jetha Ganesh Temple (Talako), Laxmi Narasingh Temple (Gahiti), and the artistic stone fountain of Bulcha, with Akhandashil Vihar supplying soil for Navdurga rituals.[1][3] Predominantly inhabited by Newars who speak Nepal Bhasa, it covers 0.28 sq km at 1,330m elevation, with a 2011 census population of 8,248 across 1,715 households, where main occupations are pottery, agriculture, trade, and employment.[1]
